Everybody knows Patsy: organizer supreme, multi-tasker, keeper of the keys, advisor to the priests, listener, comforter, talented writer, and secretary to St. Thomas the Apostle Parish for over twenty years. Patsy retired from a professional career of 35 years as a legal secretary. However, she soon realized that retirement did not full her love for helping people. Thus begain her second career at St. Thomas. Patsy began her St. Thomas Ministry with home and hospital visitations, then went on to being the bulletin editor. She has served as secretary for this parish for 20+ years. Many stories hae unfolded during those years; however, among her favorites are establishing the parish office in her bedroom after Katrina, having Fr. Louis come by on his scooter to conduct business, then the move to Nicholson Avenue and finally to the Daugherty Road roller rink. To quote Fr. Louis, "After the hurricane, Patsy helped raise tremendous amounts of support from all over the world. But more than that, Patsy Bishop is a true minister of welcome, love, understanding, inclusiveness, healing, laughter, forgiveness..all "Jesus things" we mortals need. I know you will continue to be a bright light for all of us who know and love you." The parish wishes you a blessed and peaceful retirement.
Please join us for a parish reception, Sunday, March 8, 3-5 pm in the Community Center. There will be a short presentation at 4 pm. All are welcome.
