St. Thomas is proud to announce the following parishioners have received their Eagle Scout Award: (L to R) Gabriel C. M. Chappell, Morgan M. Owen, Nathaniel J. Mink and Andrew G. Mayer. These scouts received Scouting’s high honor on Sunday, May 16th at a Court of Honor held at the St Thomas Community Center. They are all members of Troop 205 in Long Beach. In order to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, they had to earn at least 21 merit badges and show leadership by planning, developing and completing a community project. For their projects, Gabriel made chin-up bars and elevated push-up bars at the Long Beach outdoor walking track, Morgan built bleachers and updated the fire pit at the Sheriff’s Farm, Nathaniel made Sensory Boards for all the Special Education classes in the Long Beach School District and Andrew made Flag Retirement collection boxes for faded/worn American flags to place in our local churches. The rank of Eagle Scout is the culmination of the hard work and dedication over the many years of their scouting experience. Of the 2.5 million scouts nationwide, only about 4% achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Well Done!!!
