Love’s Legacy: The Story of the Venerable Father Augustus Tolton (1854-1897)
You are invited to hear a presentation on the heroic virtue of a remarkable figure in American history. A trailblazer and leader in the American Catholic Church, Fr. Tolton was born a slave, ordained in Rome, and led a parish in Chicago. How do you overcome hate? For Fr. Tolton it was by living in and sharing the love of Christ. Fr. Tolton’s story is a heartfelt inspiration to everyone. The lecturer, bringing this story to life, is Dr. Tim Weldon, Professor of Philosophy at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. In addition to authoring essays and books, he is a frequent guest on radio programs and podcasts. He tells the story of the Venerable Fr. Augustus Tolton, in his own unique fashion.
