The Society of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church extend many thanks to all of the individuals, churches, and organizations that contributed relief supplies for Southwest Louisiana Hurricane victims.
"The generosity of people in Long Beach and along the coast was astounding,” said Darlene Barry, one of the coordinators of the effort. “We are so thankful for this swift response, which was true intentional discipleship in action." Barry reported that within a week there was such an abundance of supplies collected, that a semi-truck trailer, a covered work trailer, a flat-bed trailer, and several pick-up trucks were filled to capacity. The supplies were delivered September 6 to Saint Raphael Catholic Church and Zion Travelers Baptist Church in the small Louisiana farming community of Iowa (pronounced “eye-oh-way”).
Teams of skilled and unskilled volunteers are now being coordinated to help clear debris and repair homes there. To volunteer, contact Juliane Wyatt by email: [email protected].
